Off the beaten track near the Dairy Farm Garden - Draft

A lot of you should have visited the Diary Farm Park by now. But do you know that one of the track actually lead to an open expense of field in between the quarry hills?

I have been so smitten by this view; I have elected it to be one of the locations to take my wedding photos. One of the better views is the tunnel of trees that you have to walk through.

At the end of the tunnel, one will come to a huge clearing. Just as you are surprise by the sudden burst of brightness and the wide expanse of clearing, you lifted your head and saw the stone majestic mountains over towering you.

The path between the stone mountains seems to go on and on, inviting you to explore further and further towards the end of the world. Beautiful, don’t you think?

Personally, I like this view rather than the nicely renovated pavilion overseeing the pond over at the abandoned quarry. Make a comparison - which one is better?

Tiger Tower - A place I happen to walk past

A few days ago while bringing some friends from Dubai for a local tour in Sentosa, I took the opportunity to board the Tiger Tower.

Standing at near 100 meter tall, it allows one to have a bird eyes view of Sentosa and part of Singapore. Take a look at the pictures below for the beautiful scenery.

This post is classified under places I have been to and may be removed anytime as it does not fit this blog objective (it being too commercialised).

If you guys think it should be reclassified please drop me a comment.

Sand depositary

Sand is an important resource in Singapore. It is used in everything from making of glass to the construction of flats and casinos.

Sand on the Move - The Story of Dunes - Discusses the Different Types of Sand Dunes How They Form and Move, the Distruction They Can Cause, and the Animal and Plant Life They Support - First Edition, 1st Printing 1997However, how many of you are know that there are actually many different types of sand and many different grades for different type? Have you ever wonder where the sand in Singapore are from (it is definitely not from East Coast Park)? Have you wondered where the desert scenery in old Singapore TV shows is from?

Look no further, for I present to you Singapore sand depositary - Situated offshore from Singapore at Pulau Punggol Timor linked by a bridge.. We do not have sand quarry in Singapore, therefore, our entire sand requirement are imported. Once off-loaded the sand are stored in the sand depositary before redistribution to companies like Koh Brothers, Hong Leong Construction, HDB, etc.

In this sand depositary, a guide will introduce to you the types of sand available. In addition, you can also climb the small sand dune and admire the surrounding.

On the way out, take your weight on the huge weighing machine that calculates the weight of the sands removed by the lorries.

Farmart Farm Tour

Ever wonder whether the farms set up their own retail shops? Of course they do! At Farmart!

Situated in Chua Chu Kang/Lim Chu Kang area, Farmart is situated in a nice rural country side setting.

Go in and you will discover clusters of shops that are line up side by side, selling vegetable, belts, fresh sea foods, wine, pets, vegetarian food, SPA services and many more.

For those who are hungry, one can enjoy a good meal over at their canteen.

After eating, take a walk among the various beautifully designed gardens and basked under the tree. The beautiful play of shadow and light cast by the leaves and sun, the chirping of the insects around you while you sit on a swing will soon bring you a deep peace, seldom found in Singapore.

This tour is categorised under farm tours.

Fu Chen warehouse tour

My next introduction is related to birds; specifically, bird nest.

To the Chinese, Bird nest soup is a delicacy. It is suppose to smooth your skin, improve circulation, etc.

Fu Chen processes the bird nest from Indonesia and makes it into either soup or sells it in a nest form.

What make Fu Chen a great place to visit is because it is very experience in receiving tour groups. As such, it knows how to take care of participants. This includes steps for old folks when alighting from buses, KTV session, free bird nest Jelly for sampling and lucky draw.

The guide will also give a detail speech on bird nest and their usage.

Bird nest and its harvesting is really a profession by itself. E.g. type of swift, type of nest, how to clean it, how to drink it, when to drink it....you can gather a lot of knowledge about bird nest here.

Should I include it as part of educational tours?

This tour is categoried under warehouse tours.
