Farm Tour - Oh Chin Huat Hydoponics Farm

Ever wonder how vegetables are grown before reaching your favorite super market? Come join the guided vegetable tour!

Learn how the various stages of how your favorite vegetables are grown. The processes in general are seeding, nursery stage, sorting stage, adult stage, harvesting stage and lastly packaging stage. In this guided tour, you will learn the details of the above-mentioned stages.

In additional, visit the cold room at 0 to 4 degree Celsius and see how the farm produces are stored. Also see how onions are sorted base on quality and size.

At the end of the guided tour, learn how to grow your own plants using the hydroponics method followed by a simple question and answer session, those who got the answer right will walk away with some potted plants!

Before leaving the farm, pay a visit to their shop and buy some fresh produce, compost, gardening equipment, etc.

Factory Tour - Cooking Oil by Sime Darby

Readers, I am sorry for the slower post for the month of May and June. I have come to realise School Holiday is more hectic than Chinese New Year!

I am going to introduce to you guys cooking oil factory! Learn how the whole process of how your everyday cooking oil are made. Basically, the process involves cultivating oil palm trees, to harvesting of the fruits, to extracting oil from the fruits.

You will also learn about the benefits of vegetable oil and how to use different cooking oil to cook different type of meals. All of the above are conveyed through a nice and cute video clip.

After the hour long clip, you can taste some of the foods cooked with their cooking oil. Children can also take part in drawing competition and walk away with attractive prices.

Through a small window, you can also observe how the packaging of oil containers is done.

Before leaving the factory, everyone will walk away with some goodies bag.

Sadly, no purchasing of the cooking oil are allowed.

This tour will be categorised under both factory tour and education tour.

Educational Tour - Youth Olympics Learning Center


Almost everyone in Singapore knows that Youth Olympic is going to be held in Singapore. But are you guys aware that there is actually a Youth Olympic Learning Center open to public?

Speed Skating at the 2012 Winter Youth OlympicsIn the center, one can learn about the history of Olympics, the torch carrier route as they travel around the world, history of some of the sports played in the YOG - Fencing, horse riding, canoeing, football, etc.

You can also see drawing and mock up of our YOG mascots and try your hands at fencing! A must go for kids and sports enthusiasts.
