Dragon Fruit Farm

Dragon Fruits have 3 main different colours;  red, the white and rarely the yellow. The red and the yellow can be found in Singapore very own Dragon Fruit farm - Spring Orchard.

Situated in 1 Lim Chu Kang Lane 4, the farm is easy to find as it is right beside Hay Dairy (Goat farm). The farm is a product of interest by the boss who is in the construction industry. In direct competition with huge dragon fruits farms in Malaysia, this farm is operating at a net loss every year. However, since farming is a hobby farm, he maintained it and uses it to educate the public on the cultivation of Dragon fruits and other plants.

Dragon fruits are cultivated all year round, however the number of fruits produce will depend on the season. For example, there are little fruits being produced during rainy season (eg the school holidays time in December). NOW, however, is the good time to go as the fruits are sprouting everywhere due to the extreme dry season. Why you may ask. Well, Dragon fruits plants are plant (a species of cactus) that grow in the desert!

The flowers will bloom at night and wilt by the morning. This is kind of sad as the flowers are big and white and smell very sweet.

In the Dragon Fruit farm, a fully guided tour is provided for $2.50 per person or free if you do not required a guide. I suggest a fully guided tour as there are many other plants planted there and you will need someone to explain to you.

One plant which never failed to amaze me is the sugar plant. The leaves contain some form of sugar that is 1000 times sweeter than your normal sugar - You will need the guide to point it out to you. Else it looks like your common weeds. Try it!

At the end of the guided tour, you will get to enjoy a can of Dragon Fruit juice not sold anywhere else in Singapore!

This tour will be classified under the Farm Tours.

If you need transportation services to visit this place, please refer to our product listing page.

You could buy the plant at the farm itself...it grow faster if you use the stem cutting method and ask the experts there on the technique in inserting into soil. If I am not wrong, it take many months for the seeds to grow into anything...

Hi!! I was checking where I to visit for my trip to Singapore next month... As I have been living in your country for quite some time, I was looking for a place where it is not too touristic... Wow, I'm so glad to find your blog here!

BTW, do you think this Dragon Fruit Farm is accessible by MRT? If not, I will take a cab with my friends.
